A. B. J. Grafton China Made In England 20-Piece Dessert Set 1930's

Bright and sunny dessert set by Alfred Bailey Jones (ABJ) Grafton Works. Jones began work at Aynsley's Pottery, Longton.

At the age of ten. By the time he was 25 years old he established his own. Business as a potter and when 49 years old he built the Grafton Works of. Longton, which eventually became Royal Grafton after 1949.

This gorgeous tea/dessert set was manufactured during the later years of the. And early 1940's, which attest to it's Art Deco design (see handles). The pretty little yellow, green and shades of mauve flowers against a cream. (buttermilk) background give off a sunny springtime appeal.

Trim and verge lines adds a touch of country elegance. 6 - bowl-like saucers (to hug the cup so it doesn't slide). 6 - square 6 1/4 plates. 1 - square 9 1/2 dessert/sandwich plate. 1 - open sugar, and. 1 - milk/cream pitcher this piece is included for free because there is a hairline. Crack on the spout, see last photo. All pieces, except pitcher, are in very good vintage condition.

Manufacturing flaws I need to point out. There are a few "nicks" on the edges of. Some of the plates but they are under the gold and glaze.

There are no chips, cracks. Condition is pretty exceptional considering their age.
