Antique Spode Copelands China England Collective Set of 28 (Pattern R6188). Description: Blue Band, Gold Floral, Roses. Pattern: R 6188 by Spode Copelands China England. Made from Fine English Bone China with a deep blue base band & beautiful decoration of a pink & yellow roses all around. The edge and centers are gold floral rimmed. The Spode Copelands China England green back stamp is found on the bottom of every piece with a red R 6188 underneath. The Copeland Spode backstamp indicates the earliest possible date of manufacture as being c1891. Josiah Spode established a pottery at Stoke-on-Trent, England, in 1770. In 1805, Josiah Spode II and William Copeland entered into a partnership for a London business. A series of partnerships between Josiah Spode II, Josiah Spode III and William Taylor Copeland resulted. By the early 1830s, Copeland acquired the Spode operations in London, and took over the Stoke plants in subsequent years. Until he died in 1868, Copeland managed the business and then passed it on to his heirs. Copeland Spode appears on some pieces of nineteenth-century English porcelain. 9" W x 9" D x 0.75 H.
