Antique cup and saucer made by Bloor Derby. The mark displayed is blurred in the center and Bloor Derby encircles the mark along with View in Derbyshire.
I believe the backstamp dates this cup from 1825 to 1848. This is a rare highly sought-after piece from the start of the Royal Crown Derby.
The scene is hand-painted and displays two people on a bridge, a stone butte to the right, and mountains and trees. The exterior is heavily accented in gold flora and the interior rim displays a gold geometric design completed with gold accents on the handle. The cup is in excellent condition and stands approximately 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter without the handle. The saucer is not original to the cup.
The saucer displays have gold encrusted floral band descending to cobalt blue band with gold floral to three open roses. There is an old paper label on the back of the saucer B.New York and the number 1216. It is a deep well saucer and is in very good condition for its age. There is a tight hairline on the exterior from the top rim 3/4 and a tiny flake on the exterior side top rim. The saucer is 5 1/2 in diameter.
