There is no wear to the gold. DIMENSIONS: The cups have a diameter of 3 1/8" and a height of 2 5/8" and a capacity of 6 ounces. The deep bowl-like saucers have a diameter of 4 7/8" and a height of 15/16".
HISTORY/MARKS: The Derby Crown Porcelain Company was started in 1876 by William Litherland and Edward Phillips at Osmaston Road in Derby, England. The use of the title, "Royal", was granted by Queen Victoria in 1890 and the company changed its name to Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Co. Godden's Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks shows the mark #1271 on the back of this set was used from 1890 with the various years distinguished by year ciphers. The year cipher (XXVIII, XXXIII, XXXIV, XXXV), which adds to 1937, used on these indicate production in 1965, 1970, 1971 or 1972. The company was known for producing good quality tableware, figurines, and decorative goods.
