The set is decorated with the Scottish'Glamis Thistle' pattern and gold gilding with green trims embellish all the items.
The pattern repeats on the reverse and interior of the cup and sugar bowl. All pieces are signed by P. (Percy) Curnock, a well respected Royal Doulton artist.

Condition: The items are in generally excellent vintage condition commensurate for age. No crazing, chips, fractures, major discolouration or other damage.
Some normal age related wear, perhaps the tiniest dark spot/light scratches which are quite minor. Minor wear to the pattern in areas, see pics, but generally the pattern is still very much in excellent condition.
The colours are still great, gold gilding, green trim still present. Overall the tea set presents well...

This was recognised in 1901 when the company was bestowed a Royal Warrant of Appointment. Some history: The thistle is the national flower of Scotland. Legend has it that when a Viking raiding party landed, some of the raiders stepped on thistles and their screams alerted the Scots to their presence.
Glamis Castle, in Scotland, was the childhood home of The Queen Mother. Originally a hunting lodge in the 1300s, in present day it looks more like a French Chateau. The castle is also referred to in Shakespeare's Macbeth. It is reputed to be haunted and there are many tales connected to it's bloody past... It is said that King Malcolm II was murdered there.Of course, Scotland has many such legends and myths mixed with romantic stories! So now you have some conversation with your cup of tea!!
